December 22 - Vespers Magnificat Alternative Antiphon (before O Antiphon)

John the Baptist's testimony returns as alternative Magnificat antiphon: he who comes after was made before. This paradox of temporal and eternal priority, appropriate as Advent concludes, yields to O Rex Gentium as principal antiphon.
