Advent II - Sunday Collect

Advent II's collect asks God to stir up our hearts to prepare the ways of His Only-begotten. The interior preparation ("praeparandas vias") complements the Baptist's exterior ministry. Service with purified minds ("purificatis mentibus") connects Advent penance to Christmas worship.

Excita, Domine, corda nostra ad praeparandas Unigeniti tui vias: ut per ejus adventum purificatis tibi mentibus servire mereamur: Qui tecum vivit.
ENGLISH
Stir up our hearts, O Lord, to prepare the ways of thy Only-begotten Son, that we may attain to serve thee with purified minds, through his advent. Who liveth.
