Antiphona 3

Psalm 91:14 (Vulgate) provides this text following the tree imagery of verse 13. The 'domus Domini' (house of the Lord) is primarily the Temple, extended to mean the Church and ultimately heaven. 'Plantatus' (planted) indicates permanence - not a potted plant that can be moved but one rooted in place. The 'atria domus Dei nostri' (courts of the house of our God) are the Temple courtyards where Israel gathered; the martyr now stands perpetually in God's heavenly court. At Lauds, as worshippers gather for morning prayer, this antiphon presents the martyr as permanently planted in God's presence, participating eternally in heavenly worship.
