Pentecost Ember Days - Fri

The Benedictus antiphon for Pentecost Ember Friday, recounting Christ's healing power and authority to forgive sins (Mark 2:10-11). The Ember Friday fast, like all Fridays, commemorates the Passion, yet the Alleluia proclaims that death has been conquered. The Spirit enables the Church to continue Christ's ministry of healing.

Jesus said: But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, he saith to the sick of the palsy, I say to thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house, alleluia.
