This collect for Holy Tuesday asks that we may 'so celebrate the mysteries of the Lord's Passion that we may deserve to obtain thy pardon.' The Passion's 'sacramenta' (mysteries/sacraments) must be 'celebrated' - liturgically enacted - for their saving effects to be obtained. The collect connects ritual observance to reception of grace.
