DIVINUM OFFICIUM Responsory

Responsorium III - Nocturn I

Epiphany, Nocturn I, Responsory 3

About This Prayer

The third responsory of Epiphany Matins quotes Isaiah 60:1: 'Arise, be enlightened, O Jerusalem, for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.' The nations shall walk in thy light, and kings in the brightness of thy rising. This prophetic text is the foundation of Epiphany theology: Christ as Light revealed to all peoples.
