DIVINUM OFFICIUM Responsory

Responsorium VII - Nocturn III

Second Sunday of Lent, Nocturn III, Responsory 1

About This Prayer

This responsory for the Second Sunday of Lent recounts the Transfiguration: 'Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up a high mountain apart, and was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun' (Matthew 17:1-2). The Transfiguration Gospel, read on the Second Sunday of Lent, reveals Christ's glory to sustain the disciples (and the faithful) through the coming Passion.
