This fifth Lauds antiphon for Palm Sunday draws from Jeremiah 17:18: 'Let them be confounded that persecute me, and let not me be confounded, O Lord my God.' The antiphon expresses the reversal of shame: Christ's persecutors will be confounded while He will not. Palm Sunday's triumph anticipates Easter's vindication.
