Antiphona ad Magnificat (II Vesperis)
Our Lady of the Rosary - II Vespers Magnificat
About This Prayer
From Luke 1:45, Elizabeth's blessing: 'Beata es, Virgo Maria, quae credidisti: perficientur in te quae dicta sunt tibi a Domino' (blessed art thou, Virgin Mary, who didst believe: there shall be accomplished in thee the things that were spoken to thee by the Lord). Mary's blessedness rests on faith: 'quae credidisti' (who believed). The Rosary meditation requires this same faith - contemplating mysteries that exceed understanding. At Second Vespers, this antiphon connects the Rosary's repetitive prayer to Mary's foundational act of faith at the Annunciation.
