Versicle after the brief response at Sext in Lent.

This versicle at Sext during Lent continues the Lenten use of Psalm 90:4-5 (Vulgate): 'With a shield his truth shall compass thee: thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night.' Sext, prayed at noon, recalls Christ's crucifixion at the sixth hour. The versicle affirms God's truth as a protective shield against spiritual darkness and nocturnal terrors.
