EPHESIOS 6:11-13
Put On the Armour of God
About This Prayer
Ephesians 6:11-13 is the foundational text for the app ARMATVRA DEI ('Put on the armour of God'). St. Paul's teaching that 'our wrestling is not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers' establishes the reality of spiritual warfare. The six pieces of divine armor (truth, righteousness, gospel, faith, salvation, word of God) constitute the Christian's battle equipment.
Prayer Text
LATINE
Induite vos armaturam Dei,
ut possitis stare adversus insidias diaboli.
Quoniam non est nobis colluctatio adversus carnem et sanguinem,
sed adversus principes et potestates,
adversus mundi rectores tenebrarum harum,
contra spiritalia nequitiae in caelestibus.
Propterea accipite armaturam Dei,
ut possitis resistere in die malo
et in omnibus perfecti stare.
ENGLISH
Put you on the armour of God,
that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil.
For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood;
but against principalities and powers,
against the rulers of this world of darkness,
against the spirits of wickedness in the high places.
Therefore take unto you the armour of God,
that you may be able to resist in the evil day,
and to stand in all things perfect.
