Station VIII — Jesus Speaks to the Daughters of Jerusalem

Station VIII: Jesus speaks to the daughters of Jerusalem. From Luke 23:28, Jesus tells the weeping women: 'Weep not for Me, but for yourselves and for your children.' The meditation turns our tears from Christ's suffering to our own sins that caused it.

STATIO VIII — Iesus alloquitur mulieres Ierusalem flentes
Considera quomodo mulieres flebant miseratione super Iesum ita afflictum et sanguine madentem. Iesus autem dixit eis: 'Filiae Ierusalem, nolite flere super me, sed super vos ipsas flete et super filios vestros.'
Iesu mi afflictissime, non lacrymas effundam, sicut mulieres Ierusalem super te, sed super peccata mea quae causa fuerunt tuae mortis. Da mihi gratiam ut te diligam semper, ut numquam amplius habeam causam te plangendi propter peccata mea.
Amo te, Iesu mi, super omnia, et ex toto corde me poenitet quod offenderim te. Numquam permittas ut iterum a te separar. Da ut semper te amem, et postea fac de me quidquid tibi placuerit.

STATION VIII — Jesus Speaks to the Daughters of Jerusalem
Consider how the women of Jerusalem wept with compassion for Jesus so afflicted and bathed in blood. But Jesus said to them: 'Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for Me, but for yourselves and for your children.'
My most afflicted Jesus, I will not weep, as did the women of Jerusalem, over Thee, but over my sins which were the cause of Thy death. Grant me the grace to love Thee always, that I may never again have cause to lament over Thee for my sins.
I love Thee, my Jesus, above all things; I repent with my whole heart of having offended Thee. Never permit me to separate myself from Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.
Our Father. Hail Mary. Glory Be.
