VIA CRVCIS — STATIO XI

Station XI — Jesus Is Nailed to the Cross

About This Prayer

Station XI: Jesus is nailed to the Cross. The three nails driven through Christ's most holy members become the prayer's petition: 'Fasten my heart with the nails of Thy holy love, that it may ever cling to Thee and never be separated from Thee.'

Prayer Text

LATINE
V. Adoramus te, Christe, et benedicimus tibi.
R. Quia per sanctam Crucem tuam redemisti mundum.
STATIO XI — Iesus Cruci affigitur
Considera quomodo Iesus, postquam super Crucem proiectus est, manus et pedes suos extendit, et tres clavos terebratos in sanctissima membra sua patienter sustinuit.
Iesu mi crucifixe, affige cor meum clavis amoris tui sancti, ut semper tibi adhaereat, numquam a te separandum.
Amo te, Iesu mi, super omnia, et ex toto corde me poenitet quod offenderim te. Numquam permittas ut iterum a te separar. Da ut semper te amem, et postea fac de me quidquid tibi placuerit.
Pater Noster. Ave Maria. Gloria Patri.
V. Miserere nostri, Domine.
R. Miserere nostri.
ENGLISH
V. We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee.
R. Because by Thy holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world.
STATION XI — Jesus Is Nailed to the Cross
Consider how Jesus, having been thrown upon the Cross, extended His hands and feet, and patiently bore the three nails driven through His most holy members.
My crucified Jesus, fasten my heart with the nails of Thy holy love, that it may ever cling to Thee and never be separated from Thee.
I love Thee, my Jesus, above all things; I repent with my whole heart of having offended Thee. Never permit me to separate myself from Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.
Our Father. Hail Mary. Glory Be.
V. Have mercy on us, O Lord.
R. Have mercy on us.
