Antiphona 2
Common of Confessors - Lauds Antiphon 2
About This Prayer
Wisdom 10:10 describes divine guidance of the patriarch Jacob, liturgically applied to all confessors. The 'viae rectae' (right paths) recall Proverbs' 'path of the just' (4:18) and contrast with the 'via lata' (broad way) leading to destruction (Matthew 7:13). The 'regnum Dei' shown is both the Church on earth and the beatific vision - confessors saw by faith what they would see by sight. At Lauds, as dawn illuminates the path ahead, this antiphon proclaims that the confessor's holy life resulted not from human navigation but from divine guidance through life's labyrinth.
