Common of One Martyr - Sext Chapter from Apocalypse 3:21
About This Prayer
Apocalypse 3:21 records Christ's promise to the church at Laodicea, the final of the seven churches. The enthronement promise 'sedere mecum in throno meo' (to sit with me on my throne) echoes Daniel 7:9's vision of thrones set for judgment. Christ grounds this promise in his own victory: 'sicut et ego vici' - as I also overcame. At Sext, the hour of Christ's crucifixion (Mark 15:33), this reading reveals that the martyr's apparent defeat is actually participation in Christ's cosmic victory over sin and death. The shared throne indicates co-regency, not mere reward.
