Capital Sins - Lust

About This Prayer

Lust is the inordinate desire for carnal pleasure. From lust flow blindness of mind, thoughtlessness, inconstancy, rashness, self-love, hatred of God, attachment to the present world, and horror of the future judgment. Its contrary virtue is chastity.

Luxuria est inordinatum desiderium voluptatis carnalis. Ex luxuria fluunt caecitas mentis, inconsideratio, inconstantia, praecipitatio.

CONTEXT
St. Thomas notes that lust particularly blinds the mind and weakens the will, making it especially dangerous as a source of other sins.
