Examination on the Tenth Commandment: 'Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's goods.' This forbids envy and covetousness - the inordinate desire for others' goods. Envy (sorrow at another's good) is one of the seven capital sins. It commands contentment and generosity.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's goods.
Have I envied the possessions, talents, or good fortune of others?
Have I wished others ill that I might profit?
Have I rejoiced at the misfortunes of others?
Have I been discontented with my state in life?
Have I been greedy or avaricious?
Have I been excessively attached to worldly goods?
Have I failed to give alms according to my means?
Have I neglected the corporal and spiritual works of mercy?
Lord, grant me the grace to be content with what I have,
knowing that godliness with contentment is great gain.
Help me to lay up treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves do not break through nor steal.
