Prayer to the Guardian Angel

This extended prayer to one's guardian angel begins with the traditional 'Angele Dei' and expands into a litany of invocations: counselor, defender, friend, consoler, teacher, and intercessor. The Church teaches that every baptized person has a guardian angel assigned for protection and guidance. The Feast of the Guardian Angels is celebrated on October 2.

me tibi commissum pietate superna:
hodie illumina, custodi, rege et guberna. Amen.
Sancte Angele, consiliarie mi,
illumina me.
Sancte Angele, defensor mi,
protege me.
Sancte Angele, fidelis amice mi,
intercede pro me.
Sancte Angele, consolator mi,
solare me.
Sancte Angele, frater mi,
loquere mihi de Deo.
Sancte Angele, magister mi,
doce me.
Sancte Angele, testis omnium actuum meorum,

Holy Angel, my counselor,
enlighten me.

speak to me of God.
