Station II — Jesus Carries His Cross

Station II: Jesus carries His Cross. St. Alphonsus meditates that Jesus, carrying the Cross, 'thought of thee and offered to His Eternal Father the death He was about to suffer for thy salvation.' The prayer asks for grace to embrace all the tribulations destined for us until death and to bear our cross with patience.

Considera quomodo Iesus, Crucem portans, de te cogitavit et eam Patri aeterno pro salute tua obtulit.
Iesu mi amantissime, amplector omnes tribulationes quas mihi praeparasti usque ad mortem. Te precor, per merita doloris quem in Cruce portanda sustinuisti, da mihi gratiam necessariam ad portandam crucem meam cum patientia.
Amo te, Iesu mi, super omnia, et ex toto corde me poenitet quod offenderim te. Numquam permittas ut iterum a te separar. Da ut semper te amem, et postea fac de me quidquid tibi placuerit.

R. Because by Thy holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Consider how Jesus, in carrying His Cross, thought of thee and offered to His Eternal Father the death He was about to suffer for thy salvation.
My most beloved Jesus, I embrace all the tribulations Thou hast destined for me until death. I beseech Thee, by the merits of the pain Thou didst suffer in carrying Thy Cross, give me the necessary grace to bear my cross with patience.
I love Thee, my Jesus, above all things; I repent with my whole heart of having offended Thee. Never permit me to separate myself from Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.
