VIA CRVCIS — STATIO X
Station X — Jesus Is Stripped of His Garments
About This Prayer
Station X: Jesus is stripped of His garments. The meditation recalls that Christ's inner garment 'adhered to His torn flesh, and as they dragged it off, they stripped the skin and flesh with it.' The prayer asks help to 'strip off the old man with his deeds and put on the new man' (Colossians 3:9-10).
Prayer Text
LATINE
V. Adoramus te, Christe, et benedicimus tibi.
R. Quia per sanctam Crucem tuam redemisti mundum.
STATIO X — Iesus vestimentis spoliatur
Considera exspoliationem vestimentorum Iesu.
Numquam permittas ut iterum a te separar. Da ut semper te amem, et postea fac de me quidquid tibi placuerit.
Pater Noster. Ave Maria. Gloria Patri.
V. Miserere nostri, Domine.
R. Miserere nostri.
ENGLISH
V. We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee.
R. Because by Thy holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world.
STATION X — Jesus Is Stripped of His Garments
Consider the stripping of Jesus. His inner garment adhered to His torn flesh, and as they dragged it off, they stripped the skin and flesh with it. Grant, O Lord, that I may lose my skin rather than my soul.
My most innocent Jesus, by the merits of the pain Thou didst feel in this stripping, help me to strip myself of the old man with his deeds and put on the new man, created according to God.
I love Thee, my Jesus, above all things; I repent with my whole heart of having offended Thee. Never permit me to separate myself from Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.
Our Father. Hail Mary. Glory Be.
V. Have mercy on us, O Lord.
R. Have mercy on us.
